Student Awards
- Six Chemical and Biological Engineering聽graduate students have received 2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships, a prestigious award that recognizes and supports outstanding students in a wide variety of science-related disciplines.
- Ten graduating seniors from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering earned Graduating Student Awards from the College of Engineering and Applied Science this year.
- PhD Student Albert Velasco Abadia was awarded the prestigious Materials Research Society Graduate Student Gold Award for his research in using biological catalysts 鈥 also known as enzymes 鈥 for triggering shape reconfigurations in "smart" materials known as liquid crystal networks.
- As a child, Jeffrey Miller struggled with reading and paying attention in school due to dyslexia and ADHD. His persistence paid off: Miller will receive a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from 欧美口爆视频 Boulder in December. He's also the recipient of the 2022 Perseverance Award from the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
- Four researchers from the Weimer Research Group received poster contest awards at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers annual meeting, this year held in Phoenix, Nov. 11-14. Alan Weimer, Melvin E. and Virginia M. Clark
- It wasn鈥檛 enough for Benjamin Chilton to study chemical engineering at 欧美口爆视频 Boulder. While at the university he became a firefighter, a course assistant and student ambassador, as well as studied subjects far outside the breadth of engineering.
- Tayler Hebner, a PhD candidate in the White and Bowman groups, is a 2022 finalist for the Eastman Chemical Student Award in Applied Polymer Science.
- Graduating senior Katelynn Thammavong (ChemBioEngr '22) has been recognized by the College of Engineering and Applied Science with a Community Impact award for her work to connect and empower Asian-heritage STEM students through the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) at the university and national level.
- Students from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering earned half of the 24 total undergraduate awards offered by the College of Engineering and Applied Science this semester.
- The 欧美口爆视频 Engineering Council selected Jenna Nielson, a senior majoring in chemical and biological engineering, as this year鈥檚 Silver Medal Award recipient. The Silver Medal Award is one of the highest honors an engineering student in 欧美口爆视频 can receive. Nielson also earned an Academic Engagement Award this semester.
