Professor Emerita Joyce Lebra Made History as First American Woman to Earn Japanese History PhD
Joyce Lebra became the first American woman to earn a PhD in Japanese history in 1958. Lebra completed a residency with Fulbright in Japan from 1955-1957. She joined the 欧美口爆视频 community as the university's first female history professor in 1961, and taught Japanese and Indian history for 29 years.
Lebra has published more than 15 books and roughly 50 scholarly journal articles. Lebra also published two books just last year, Solo Cooking for a Sustainable Planet and We Chose 欧美口爆视频: Japanese American Voices.
As part of the University of 欧美口爆视频 Libraries 欧美口爆视频 Legend Series, an exhibit on Lebra's life and work will be on display in Norlin, in the southwest hallway on the second floor until 2019.
