  • ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND INFORMATION ANALYTICS

Dr. Sabrina D. Volpone is a tenured associate professor of Organizational Leadership at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ’s Leeds School of Business. She earned her master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology at the University of Houston before obtaining her Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University. At the Leeds School of Business, she is the doctoral program coordinator for the Organizational Leadership and Information Analytics division.

Dr. Volpone’s research uses both qualitative and quantitative methodology to develop and test theory about diversity and identity management processes within organizations. Specifically, through her work on diversity management, she examines the perspective of employers to understand how organizations manage their diverse workforces. Then, her work on identity management takes the employee’s perspective to determine how diverse individuals can flourish through the management of their identities at work. Whenever possible, her work uses a partnered research approach with participants so that the lived experiences of traditionally under-represented employees are highlighted in her research projects.

Dr. Volpone’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology, among others. This work has been featured by CNN Business, CNBC, U.S. News and World Report, The Boston Globe, and has received international press coverage through the Toronto Star, רC News Australia, and coverage from the London School of Economics. She presents her research at professional conferences, including the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the Academy of Management (AOM).

Much of Dr. Volpone’s research occurs in collaboration with members of the Diversity and Identity (DI&ID) Management Research Lab, a research lab that Dr. Volpone founded and runs at the Leeds School of Business. The lab currently consists of a team of 15 students (seven PhD, two masters, and six undergraduate) and alumni members (currently assistant professors at other universities). Her recent research has been funded nationally by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the Management Education Research Institute, and internationally by universities in Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Further, Sabrina has been a part of multiple consulting teams for organizations such as ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco that maintain a presence atop the Fortune 500 and Fortune Global 500 lists. Through these consulting experiences, she has contributed extensively to several job analysis projects and technical reports.
