The Professional Mentorship Program (PMP) is a unique program that partners Leeds undergraduate and MBA students with business professionals on a local and national level. The program's mission is to enhance business education at the Leeds School by offering hands-on learning, professional skills development, leadership opportunities, and a sense of connection and community among current students, Leeds alumni, and corporate partners. PMP mentors prepare and inspire our students to become the next generation of strong business leaders.

"PMP was such a wonderful experience. ÌýEvery student at every college should be assigned a mentor. ÌýIt helped boost my confidence as a business professional and I gained useful everyday knowledge that I will take with me for years."

The majority of our mentors have between 15-25+ years of experience and represent all functional areas of business, as well as a diverse group of industries. ÌýThey range from executives at Fortune 500 companies to small business entrepreneurs and directors of non-profits. ÌýPMP mentors serve as role models, coaches, and advisors to our students, providing professional insight, experience, and exposure to their impressive professional networks. ÌýWhile the majority of our MBA mentors also hold an MBA, many of the mentors in the PMP could serve either audience. ÌýMentors do not need to be a University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ or Leeds School of Business alumnus to participate in the program.

The PMP currently serves junior and senior undergraduates as well as MBA candidates at the Leeds school. ÌýStudents come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, but they all share a desire to engage with business leaders and change makers they aspire to become.

Participants in the PMP (both students and mentors) complete an application and are matched based on a student’s desire for functional area and industry experience, geographic location, gender, and other hobbies and interests.

Students (Leeds juniors and seniors) and mentors are matched for the remainder of the student’s academic journey (1-2 years) and are expected to touch base 2 times per semester.Ìý Additional interaction is encouraged. ÌýThe PMP supports mentors and mentees with workshops, trainings, and social events open to all program participants.

Undergraduate students may enter the program either junior or senior year, both in the fall and spring semesters.Ìý MBAs enter at the beginning of their second semester. ÌýMentors are welcome to participate in either the undergraduate or MBA program and can indicate your preference on the Mentor Application.
