CESR is excited to announce the first recipients of the Donna T. and Gary L. Antonoff Scholarship fund: Julia Severson, Austin Leyba, Dylan Stanton, Noel Ramirez Ortega and Hailey Dearman.

Donna T. and Gary L. Antonoff Scholarship

The Donna T. and Gary L. Antonoff Scholarship launched in 2016 rewarding five incoming Leeds School of Business students $10,000 in scholarships each. The applicants chosen maintain impressive academic achievements, strength of character, integrity and strong interest in business ethics, social responsibility, diversity and/or sustainability.

Recipients are selected in accordance with established procedures for awarding need-based scholarships. In addition, those awarded are Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ residents and guaranteed the scholarship money for one academic year, but can renew for up to five years based on criteria established by the university.

Meet the Impressive 2016 Recipients (in alphabetical order)

Hailey DearmanHailey Dearman was awarded Business Female of the Year at Rangeview High School in her sophomore and junior years. Hailey is a dedicated leader who played varsity lacrosse for three years and was social media director/president for her school’s DECA chapter. The incoming freshman also spent time volunteering at Monaco Parkway Health and Rehab and Aurora Reflection Memorial Garden Fund which helped develop her customer service and leadership skills.

Austin Leyba

Ìý

As a national honor society member, Austin Leyba hopes to study finance and double major in economics. The incoming freshman has a passion for politics, reading, playing piano, basketball and skiing. After his undergrad studies, Austin plans to attend law school and use his business degree as a background for a career in politics, specifically making a positive impact by passing legislation promoting clean, renewable energy.

Noel Ramirez Ortega

Ìý

Commerce City native Noel Ramirez Ortega attended Adams City High School and Front Range Community College, Concurrent Enrollment for a year after. The first generation college student is bilingual in English and Spanish. Noel attended Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder’s pre-collegiate program from 7th to 11th grade. Outside of academics, Noel has impressive community service experience with hours dedicated to VOHICE (Voicing Our Imperative Health Concerns Everyday), TOP (Teen Outreach Program) and the Boys and Girls Club.

Julia Severson

Julia Severson is a Boulder local who has demonstrated a motivated work ethic through her advanced placement courses in high school. ÌýAlso in high school, Julia founded "Opportunity Club" that raised money for students in need, to take AP tests and acquire the proper study materials to help them succeed. When taking a break from her studies, Julia enjoys tennis, hiking, snowboarding and photography. Julia intends to earn a dual degree involving Marketing and Spanish Language, with a global certificate.Ìý

Dylan Stanton

Ìý

Dylan Stanton proved his dedication for education by graduating with over a 4.3 GPA. On top of his impressive academic achievements, Dylan played varsity lacrosse and was named captain his junior year. Dylan intends to study business administration and entrepreneurship, and hopes to use his business degree to start a company focused on giving back to the community while being a role model for young business-minded individuals.
