Air Quality InQuiry Program
The Air Quality InQuiry Program (AQ-IQ) began as a partnership among theÌýHanniganÌýLab inÌýthe Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder Mechanical Engineering department, the Western Slope Conservation Center in Paonia,ÌýÅ·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ, and several high school science teachers in the Delta County School District.
AQIQÌýputsÌýcutting edge air quality monitoringÌýtechnology, called Pods, into the hands of high school andÌýcommunity citizen scientistsÌýto investigate air quality questions in their hometown.
- Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder provides the Pods, which measure carbon monoxideÌý(CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
- Pods can be accessed through local high school chapters and a Ìýat the Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Museum of Natural History.
- We’ve developed a 5 lessonÌý°ä³Ü°ù°ù¾±³¦³Ü±ô³Ü³¾Ìýfor high school classrooms to conduct their own research using the Pod.
- Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder Engineering students are available to help classrooms and communities use the PodsÌýandÌýtroubleshoot technical issues.ÌýContact usÌýhere with questions orÌýfor assistance.
