Departmental Statement of Professional Ethics

Anthropology is the most diverse of the social sciences, asking questions about virtually all aspects of human lives in all parts of the globe across time. Regardless of the topics we study, we share a common core of obligations that structure what we do. These include obligations to research participants, the communities in which we work, our students, the larger public that supports us, and each other.ÌýTheÌý encapsulate the most fundamental part of this core in the command toÌýDo No Harm.

As faculty and students of the Anthropology department at the University of Å·ÃÀ¿Ú±¬ÊÓƵ Boulder, we commit to adhering to the guidelines laid down for us by relevant laws (including the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act), university regulations (including the Institutional Review Board), disciplinary standards, and the communities with whom we work. We recognize our accountability to individuals, stakeholders, and communities.
